If you haven't read my first thrift post to Family Bundle Ampang, check it out here!
Few days ago, I went and had a look at Subangs' thrift outlet, Jalan Jalan Japan.MY EXPERIENCE
Environment :
Once you enter the outlet, you get the feel of a higher class thrift shop. All the clothes are clean and not dusty. The smell of thrifted items still arises from within. On the first floor, are rows and rows of womens' clothing.
At the end of the shop are stairs that lead upstairs to the miscellaneous items as well as the mens section which is somewhat disappointing as it has about 1/10 of the options compared to the womens' section.
Prices :
It's in Subang. I wasn't expecting low prices that I'm used to at thrifts, nor that high. They range from around RM10 up to RM50 for clothes.
They even sell baby strollers, shoes, stilettos, rare anime comic books and even handbags. These items range up to the hundreds.
Weird Items :
I usually go to thrifts for rare items, here they mostly sell standard everyday clothing like blazers and caps as well as dresses.
I do love how this thrift offers many variety of items, from duffel bags, to wedding dresses. Other than clothes, you can definitely shop for a school bag here. All looking in great condition too.
Office Hours :
According to google, they open from 10AM to 10PM, exactly the same as @ Family Bundle. I went their in the afternoon, and it was a soothing experience. Having spending around 2.5 to 3 hours their, Rummaging for clothes.
Location :
I had taken an LRT ride to USJ 21 and took a Grabcar to One City Mall (RM4) as the shop is located inside it. I had to ask a very helpful cleaner the way as it was a bit confusing due to no directions.
Imagine the mall as a barren Publika, except bigger and more unused space. Probably for office workers.
Pros :
- clean ( not dusty ) environment
- many options for women
- available fitting rooms
- more options than a normal thrift
- mamak nearby
- higher class than usual (due to location in Subang)
- workers, they have workers!
- mirrors everywhere
- baskets and trolleys at your service
- the whole family can come and find something honestly
Cons :
- GST charge
- not many men options
- a bit difficult to find
- a tad bit high price for a thrift, exchanged for cleanliness and good service
Conclusion, have a go. Confirm can find something weh. Make sure you have much time on your hands :)
